2-D rings

These rings were designed as an alternative to the plain old wedding band; an attempt to coax men, in particular, to be a little more adventurous. The concept is two outer bands of different widths with a decorative band or bands in between. The inner and outer bands can be the same metal or of contrasting colours; either soldered together to form a single wedding ring or worn separately as a set.

Materials used:

• Outer bands in silver, yellow or white gold.
• Inner bands in 18K yellow gold or rose gold.
• The overall profile is a D section.
• Can be made in a variety of metals.

Two partnership rings, for Laura and Natalie.

These two matching rings were made as Stacking sets in 18K white and 9K rose gold.

Materials used:

• Outer bands in 9K rose gold.
• Inner bands in 18K white gold.

Main central band in 18K yellow gold with heavily textured surface and outer smooth rims in either silver or white gold.

• Stone: Ruby square cut in 18K white gold setting.
• Bands could be made in other metals with many other stone options available.

Two Stacking Rings for the Robinsons.

This couple wanted to make up their own individual rings sets. They wanted them to have a unified theme without them having to be identical. The ring on the left also has an inherited wedding band with a twist pattern. This was slightly modified to be successfully incorporated into the set. A pair of very pleasing ring combinations.

Materials used:

• Ring set left: Mixed bands in silver, 18K yellow gold and 9K rose gold.
• Ring set right: All 9K gold yellow, rose and white.

A beautiful ring for Kirsten.

Kirsten's original wedding band was lost so she wanted it replaced. She asked me to make her the ultimate wedding ring but with a similar feel to the original one. I suggested using 22K gold for the best colour and hard wearing platinum for the edging, settings and spirals.

Materials used:

• Main Band in 22K yellow gold.
• Edging and spirals in platinum 950.
• Eight diamonds, 0.12ct. set in platinum collets.
• Year commissioned: 2013.

Replacement wedding bands for Mr and Mrs Lamb.

Two bands in Platinum to replace their original wedding rings.

Materials used:

• Bands in Platinum 950.
• Hand engraved with their wedding date in Roman numerals.
• Hallmarking also on the outer edge.
• Year commissioned: 2001.

Hind's Pierced Ring.

A Pierced Ring with a central raised ridge, a selection of Diamonds and a single Ruby.

Materials used:

• Ring body in 18K yellow gold.
• Settings in Platinum 950.
• Ten diamonds; round brilliants, ranging in size from 0.06ct to 0.33ct.
• One small Ruby as an accent.
• Year made: 2009.

A large 2-D Ring for Naseem in 18K yellow and white gold. For Pennylynn a wedding band fully set with with diamonds.

Ring modelled on a giant clam shell.

A giant clam shell ring based on my marine themed designs. It is made in two parts and can be worn as interlocking bands or joined to form a single ring. Options for size colour and type of stones are also possible.

• Ring body in 18K yellow gold.
• Stone: Diamond 3mm 0.12 carats.
• Can be made in other metals and stone options.

Commissioned Wedding bands with text.

A Special pair of wedding bands in platinum and 22K yellow gold with Arabic Kufic script with the names of the couple and the their wedding date.

Materials used:

• Ring body in textured 22K yellow gold.
• Arabic Kufic script in Platinum.
• Outer rim on the large ring in Platinum.
• Year made: 2008

Wide Coiled Ring in 18K gold.

A 12mm wide coiled ring in 18K gold. These are made from a long tapered strip of gold coiled like a clock spring to make a layered band. This type of construction technique was inspired by the methods used by the "Shakers" to make their beautiful cherry wood boxes. The end of the strip is riveted with small gold rivets and small cabochon or faceted stones set into the top most layer. Pierced and textural techniques add surface interest to the ring. These make excellent wedding bands; easy to wear and do not snag on clothing.

Materials used:

• Ring in 18K yellow gold.
• Surface texture and small decorative holes to add the surface interest.
• Stones: five Rubies; cabochon cut and a 0,12ct Diamond.

Coiled ring commissioned by Isobel.

A 12mm wide coiled ring in 9K gold. These are made from a long tapered strip of gold coiled like a clock spring to make a layered band.
